The Netflix Error is one of the more cryptic errors that you can encounter with the popular streaming service. Some users claim this error occurs when there’s some technical issue on a user’s account. Some say it is caused by glitches in User ID.

Netflix itself claims to put the blame for this error on a user’s browser or connectivity. No one really knows what exactly causes this error. Nonetheless, there are a few tips that have worked for some people to continue their binge-watching sesh with American Netflix.

Why Am I Getting an Error Code on Netflix?

When Netflix displays an error code while playing a movie or TV show it usually indicates that there’s a network connectivity issue preventing you from reaching the SVoD. Some of these common error codes include:

Are you wondering how you can prevent these error codes from showing up? If so, then it is important to clarify that mostly the solutions and fixes for different errors are the same. Below are 6 solutions that work for every error code:

Solution#1: Signing In from Another Device

The first step is to figure out the source of the problem. Is it your particular device configuration or a network issue? This can be determined by logging into Netflix from another device. Specifically, these are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Sign in to Netflix on a device other than the one you’re getting the site error on.
  2. Use the same network for signing in to this device that you used before.
  3. Sign out of Netflix and then log in, if you are already logged in from another device.

If you still see the same Netflix site error on the new device after signing in, then the problem is certainly on Netflix’s end as your account is failing to connect. In this scenario, the best action you can take is to contact their customer support.

Sometimes, the problem resolves itself, if you just give it a few minutes. However, that’s never a guarantee and there’s no certain time period for it. So, it’s always a good option to consult customer support to expedite the process.

On the other hand, if you don’t see the error at all when you sign in from another device, it means there’s a configuration issue. So, just reset all settings on that particular device to fix the issue. Reverting to default settings usually fixes all errors.

If none of the above steps work, try the next solution…

Solution#2: Clear Netflix Cookies

The device you’re having trouble using Netflix on may have some glitchy cookies causing the problem. So in the next step, you should try clearing your Netflix cookies, which the company has made really simple to do:

  1. Click this link https://netflix.com/clearcookies to clear all Netflix cookies from your browser.
  2. Sign in to Netflix once again and try watching your favorite Netflix shows and Netflix movies.

If that still doesn’t work, move on to the next step.

Solution#3: Restart Browser

Restarting the browser after clearing the cache can really help your browser pull itself together and stop acting up.

  1. Quit your browser and open the Task Manager and end all browser-related processes running.
  2. Launch the browser again and visit Netflix.

Still, facing problems? Hmm. This one is a pesky one. But worry not. There are still other options to try.

Solution #4: Use A Different Browser

With the other options above failing to fix the issue, perhaps it’s time to switch to another browser for Netflix. Currently, Netflix is supported on the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Opera
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Edge

Pick your preferred browser (other than the one you’re already using) from this list and use it to log into Netflix.

What’s that? Still, getting Netflix site errors? Wow. That’s a first.

I’m running out of ideas, frankly, but there are a couple of more last resort things to try.

Solution #5: Restart Your Computer

Can’t figure out what the freakin’ problem is? Try the oldest trick in the book: turn it off and on again. I don’t have the computer wisdom to explain why exactly this works for so many people, but it does.

Just make sure to shut down your computer completely, let it rest for a couple of minutes, and then start it again. Once you have booted up, visit Netflix once again.

No luck still? *sigh*. Well, I guess it’s time to pull out desperate measures.

Solution #6: Restart the Entire Home Network

Okay, now you’re going to get your hands dirty. Restarting the home network will require unplugging cables and restarting all the devices in your home. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your computer and leave it powered off for at least 30 seconds before doing anything else.
  2. Unplug the power from your router for 30 seconds.
  3. Plugin your router back again and wait for the lights to return to their normal state of operation.
  4. Once all the lights are back on, turn-on your computer back on and connect to the network.
  5. Visit Netflix again.

This should definitely work. If not, sprinkle holy water around your house. You’re probably cursed.

Wrapping Up

Don’t forget that all the steps after the first solution only work if you have ascertained the problem is not on Netflix’s end (see the first step) but on your device.

Netflix site error is a difficult one to pinpoint and solve. It is very much possible that the issue lies on Netflix’s end and you will need to contact their technical support for that.

If the problem is on your end, however, one of the above methods should definitely help to fix the problem. For any assistance, feel free to drop a comment below!
